Gin Cooley (Dr. Jennifer Cooley) is an American composer, vocalist, sound-healing artist, and licensed psychotherapist whose work bridges ancient musical traditions with contemporary approaches to emotional and physical wellness. Her multidisciplinary practice blends Gregorian chant, medieval Nordic song, neo-folk, Southern Gothic soul, and healing frequency compositions, using sound as a form of medicine rooted in myth, grief, and psychological restoration.

Cooley is a licensed psychotherapist, holding LPCC licensure in Kentucky and LPC licensure in Tennessee. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Management and Organizational Development from Bethel University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and as a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honors Society. She received a Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Tennessee, graduating in 2018, where she was also an active member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In 2020, she was accepted into Western Kentucky University’s PsyD program, completing two years of doctoral-level study focused in applied psychololgy, and was later accepted into California Southern University’s PsyD program, where she is currently in her final year. She also holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Natural Medicine (PhD/DNM) from the Rockwell School of Holistic Medicine. Cooley is a professional member of both the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association.

In her clinical work, Cooley focuses on marginalized groups and high-risk environments, with extensive experience in outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation settings. She has served as a psychotherapist in super-max prisons, consulted on the development of MAT programming in high-security environments, and was the Treatment Director for a therapeutic foster care agency. Additionally, she helped develop an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) tailored for rural addiction treatment. Her approach blends holistic and evidence-based practices to treat the whole person within complex institutional systems.

In 2026, Cooley’s work centered prominently on sound therapy and psychotherapy through music. Her EP Sound Healing for the Soul explores the therapeutic use of Solfeggio frequencies, with tracks tuned to specific hertz levels intended to support emotional release, nervous system regulation, and holistic well-being. These include 174 Hz for relaxation and pain relief, 396 Hz for releasing guilt and fear, 432 Hz for harmonic balance, 528 Hz—often referred to as the “Love Frequency”—for transformation and cellular renewal, and a Full Body Healing Frequencies track designed for comprehensive wellness.

In January 2026, Cooley also released the five-track EP Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto, a sacred work inspired by the ancient “Glory Be” doxology. Drawing on Gregorian chant and medieval sacred music, the EP reflects her dual background as a psychotherapist and composer, with many pieces tuned to 432 Hz, a frequency often associated with bodily and emotional harmony. The release aligns with her broader therapeutic mission of integrating sacred sound into modern healing contexts.

Beyond her solo work, Cooley fronts the music project Gin Cooley and the Kentucky Holler, which released a 12-track Southern-Gothic-inspired soul album 40 Year Blues in January 2026. The album followed a successful run of singles, including “Therapy Note” (2026) and 2025 releases “Through the Mud,” “Dear Friend,” and “Piece by Piece.”

Her discography also includes neo-Nordic and Celtic folk singles such as Nordic Lullabies, featuring “Wolf Lullaby,” “Aurora’s Magic”, and “Polar Bear Cub” (2026), as well as the 2025 releases “Valhalla Lullaby” and “Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam — Erin go Bragh.” Earlier works include the 2023 single "Drømde Mik En Drøm I Nat", featuring Romanian songwriter and producer Paul Daniel Ciupe (Pawl D Beats), a composition widely regarded as the oldest known secular song from the Nordic countries, dating to circa 1300. In 2021, she released a series of neo-Nordic dark folk ballads, including “Death Before Dishonor” and “War March” (feat. Bjorth), and collaborated with German composer Björn Hoppen on “Wanderer” for the Midgard Rising EP.

In addition to her musical career, Cooley has showcased short musical films at international festivals and has an extensive background as a high-fashion runway model, working in Italy, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and New York City. She hails from rural northwest Tennessee, a region that continues to influence her storytelling, sonic textures, and spiritual grounding.
